Sockapaloooza update

Here it is at last, the beginning of a sock pal's Conwy sock! I was fretting about whether the size would be right, but now I think it will work out. It's a new experience for me to knit something without being able to try it on the recipient every few minutes. I'm trying it on my own foot, then allowing for more ease because my pal's feet are bigger than mine.

If you click on the picture, you can see the great stitch definition and color patterning of the Koigu. The Conwy pattern looks almost ripply, like waves. It's a really enjoyable pattern to knit, and feels great on my Crystal Palace bamboo size 1 dpns, which are smoother than any other bamboo needles I own. I may have the pair done by next week!

Stash enhancement and a shrug

About a month ago, I got to take a trip to the Wet Side of my state and visited several yarn shops. Sock yarn is becoming an addiction! Here are some recent spoils:

Clockwise from center top: Mountain Colors Bearfoot in Juniper, Socks that Rock in Ruby Slipper, Koigu for my sock pal, Sunshine Yarns' Strawberry Banana, and Lorna's Laces Angora in Motherlode.

I started some socks for my mom in the Ruby Slippers, partly to test out the Conwy pattern. I like it a lot, so have started Conwys in the blue Koigu for my sock pal. Progress pics soon to come!

I also started the Regency Cabled Shrug from Interweave's website. I saw this knit up in a shop in Elsebeth Lavold's Silky Wool, and really liked the look. I thought the tag said it took two skeins, but I soon realized that wouldn't be enough, and ordered more. Here is the finished left side and right side in progress:

I actually finished the whole thing in time for a band trip to Reno, but still haven't blocked it. I think I like it, especially the color.

Coming up is the tale of my fabulous trip to Ashland, Oregon to check out a midwifery school. I bought more pretty things there, too! I'm also having fun knitting away on my sock pal socks, while agonizing over the size. Stay tuned!

Delay...

I've been wanting to update for a while, but I've been delayed. I still don't have pictures of any of my latest knitting stuff, so that will come with my next post. For now, I really wanted to put up some pictures of the "wee felt folk" my mother and I made a few weekends ago. They are quite adorable!

Two fairies my mom made:

A little girl I made:

A rascally pirate:

And a little baby for the fairies:

I have been doing so much knitting lately! I really want to put up pictures of everything. I finished my Peacock socks, and have started three more pairs: new Jaywalkers, Conwys for my mom, and Conwys for my sock pal. I'm also working on a cabled shrug (from Interweave's website). I've made several more stash acquisitions as well. This is all coming soon!
